Nineteen‑year‑old singer‑songwriter Anna Karila releases her debut single Sweet, marking out her place in the folk/Americana sphere with her atmospheric guitar playing and spellbinding vocals and drawing influence from artists such as Fiona Apple, Courtney Love, Joni Mitchell and Lana Del Rey.

The track unfolds around a resonant, finger‑picked guitar line, steeped in quiet contemplation and carried by the songwriter’s spacious, melodious vocal. Those vocals bloom outward, reverberating effortlessly through the mix, while soft ambient synths drift in at the close, easing the song into a gentle, luminous close.

Here, Anna tells us more about the track…

“I wrote “Sweet” this time last year, in a moment where I couldn’t fully recognise myself anymore. I think as humans we all harden the softest sides of us in order to survive, which is a really beautiful representation of our strength, but can also isolate us from ourselves. That thought process is what brought the song to me.”
