Single Exclusive: Lurcher – Quadbiking

Hartlepool indie outfit Lurcher return with Quadbiking, the second single from their forthcoming EP Bad Gag. Built on sharp rhythms, angular guitars and impassioned vocals, the track slowly unravels into something raw and unhinged. Its tight rhythmic core keeps the energy focused, carrying it into a final, exhilarating flurry. We’re delighted to be given an exclusive listen to it ahead of release on 25th April.

Here, lead singer, Spencer tells us more…

“Quadbiking was my first time writing anything that resembles a traditional chorus, I think. E-bike and scooter culture in the working classes has been on a steady rise the last few years but I have a clear memory of their origins being four wheeled. The lads on quads. I just think it’s an overlooked subculture in the town, they really are the last true outlaws, like little Clint Eastwood’s in 95s and a balaclava. Lucky feeling punks, doing it for the love of the game, or the love of trouble, these lads are definitely passionate about anything motorised,uninsured and anti social . We wanted to salute this passion as it grows from a similar place ours does. Whether you like them or not they have real love for their recreation in a time of superficial sip and paints and bouldering, they’re not posting a countdown to Dubai on Instagram, I don’t think they’re arsed and they definitely couldn’t give a fuck what you and I think. The lads on the quads are the real punks, everything else is cosmetic, hollow and finite. Their four wheels fury echoes in burnout for ever.”
