The Teesside R&B artist gives us an exclusive listen to her debut single, Obsessed, which sees her team up with rapper Sturge
R&B artist Tariro is set to drop her debut single Obsessed, which sees her team up with fellow Teessider Sturge for an Afrobeat‑leaning blend of R&B and rhythmic pulse. It’s a track that folds her dual cultural identity into something global‑sounding yet unmistakably grounded in the North East.
Sonically, it slips in on smooth, live‑lounge piano before a sharp groove and soft, ambient strings rise around it, creating a warm, simmering bed for Tariro’s cool, soulful vocal and Sturge’s effortless flow — a striking, self‑assured debut that hints at just how much the emerging artist has to offer. We’re delighted to be given an exclusive listen ahead of its release on 13th March.
Speaking about the track Tariro adds, “Obsessed captures that magnetic early moment when chemistry speaks louder than logic. It’s flirtatious, intense, and unapologetically driven by feeling; a soundtrack to the thrill of connection when glances linger and emotions take control.”
