The Newcastle indie outfit tell us what their perfect gig would look like
Newcastle indie outfit Park View recently dropped their newest single, She Doesn’t Know. The track’s shuffling rhythms and shimmering guitars simmer beneath an ominous calm before erupting into an impassioned, anthemic chorus — echoing the intensity of bands like JJ72 and Muse.
Our dream show is a tricky one – we’ve all brought a range of influences that guitar music (and beyond) has to offer. The rest of the band just have to suck it up, unfortunately, I’m the boss of this one!
With money and reality out of the equation, I’m throwing this party on the Whitley Bay coastline. We’ll have a stage on the Links, with the iconic Spanish City in the background. Sun blasting down, (relatively) warm weather and good tunes.
To open the show, I’m going for New York City’s wonderkids Geese. They’ve gained a bit of a reputation recently, but I think they’re great. Part of the agreement would be they play their 2nd album, 3D Country, in full – then the hits from their newest album. I will then get to chew someone’s ear off about them while they play. Bonus points if the unlucky person couldn’t care less.
As main support, Pink Floyd. Their run from DSOTM to The Wall was nuts, and if they want this gig I want to hear the hits from those albums. Maybe Echoes too but undoubtedly they’d run out of time. Their iconic light shows would light up Whitley Bay like the 80s.
Finally, the very best to do it, The Beatles. We’re all (bar our drummer Tom) are Beatles fanatics. There’s not much to say about them that hasn’t already been said, but as emperor supreme of this gig, I’d set up an encore of Something, Don’t Let Me Down, Strawberry Fields Forever, I Want You (She’s So Heavy) and Tomorrow Never Knows. Mint.
