News: This Is Middlesbrough – First Wave Announcement

Get ready for This Is Middlesbrough, an exciting new multi-stage festival taking place at Teesside University Students’ Union in the vibrant heart of Middlesbrough on Saturday 5th April.

Brought to you by the acclaimed team behind the award-winning Twisterella Festival, This Is Middlesbrough is set to shine a spotlight on 20 of the UK’s most promising up-and-coming bands across three dynamic stages.

The festival recently announced their first headliner, indie rock sensation October Drift. With two critically acclaimed albums under their belt, the band has already made waves in the UK, Europe, and the US with rave reviews, numerous radio hits and a loyal fanbase

Also featured in this initial line up are the captivating indie-folk duo Lilo, the rising Scottish punk group Soapbox, and the post-punk stalwarts from the north-east, Pit Pony. The festival will also highlight three of Middlesbrough’s most exciting new talents: the innovative rock band Perfect Chicken, the fierce punk outfit Dossers from Redcar, and the fresh indie sounds of Northern Hospitality, all set to showcase their skills alongside the nation’s best emerging acts.

Other artists announced are Champ, Indoor Foxes, Irked, Leif Coffield and Martha May & The Mondays.

Co-promoter Henry Carden adds, “This Is Middlesbrough builds on our track record of showcasing Middlesbrough as a forward-thinking town full of music fans ready to discover their new favourite band. The unbelievably positive reaction to Twisterella Festival’s 10th anniversary last year gave us so much motivation to expand the Twisterella blueprint into the spring, perfectly complementing our existing October offer.”
