Split the Ticket return to Newcastle on 13th December for a night showcasing some of the North’s most exciting emerging alternative indie rock.
Split the Ticket returns to Newcastle for their biggest show of a busy year. Following a debut festival slot in the summer and a run of dates across England this autumn, the band are back at The Grove on 13th December with a self‑booked, self‑promoted gig that highlights their evolving sound and energy. The band draws on post‑punk, grunge and shoegaze influences, citing The Smashing Pumpkins, Fontaines D.C., Been Stellar, Wunderhorse and Slowdive among their inspirations.
Joining them are two northern acts making their Newcastle debuts. From Sheffield, Weave bring a bold, gritty yet melodic post‑punk sound, shaped by Joy Division, Swervedriver and Aerial Love Feed, and known for eccentric live performances. From Leeds, Free Party showcase their “souped‑up dark indie‑pop,” touring widely off the back of recent EP SKIN and earning attention for their emotive take on indie rock.
Opening the night is North East artist Charlie Floyd, fresh from a packed festival season and set to deliver his energising indie‑pop repertoire. Together, the line‑up makes for one of the most exciting and best‑value gigs in Newcastle this year.
