On Thursday 27th November, Low Girl round off Middlesbrough Gigs Association’s 2025 programme with a headline set in support of their debut album Is It Too Late To Freak Out?, released in October. The indie pop four-piece—led by multi-instrumentalist Sarah Cosgrove alongside Toby, Tom and Brad—have been steadily building momentum since forming in 2021, with early support from BBC Radio 1, 6Music, Radio X, DIY, The Line of Best Fit and Spotify.
Their sound blends sharp vocal melodies with warm guitar lines, drawing on influences from King Princess and Phoebe Bridgers to King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard. Across three EPs, a sold-out headline at The Lexington, and festival slots at Reading & Leeds and SXSW, the band have carved out a reputation for emotionally rich, tightly crafted pop. Recent tour supports with Dream Wife, Pom Poko and The Murder Capital have only sharpened their live presence.
The show also marks a milestone for Middlesbrough Gigs Association, now in its second year and based at Teesside University’s on-campus venue. Backed by Arts Council England through National Lottery funding, the series continues to bring rising national talent to Teesside stages.
