Darlington’s HARK! The Sound of Stories is back for the ultimate cosy live music evening on Friday 7th February. The event showcases music inspired by and intertwined with stories and poetry, all in the beautiful confines of the stunning Crown Street Library.
Headlining Friday’s edition will be Polly Paulusma, an English folk legend (alongside being a touring artist, record producer, label founder and author) who will be playing songs from her critically acclaimed new album Wildfires. She blends synths, piano and guitar into beautiful stories of love, ghosts, and miscommunication. An impressive act indeed – so catch her while you can in this delightful bookish setting. She’ll be introduced by original spoken word poet Bob Beagle.
Supporting Paulusma will be Newcastle’s remarkable Ren Lawton, who will be performing songs from his EP Harry’s Poems (from the loft), an aptly named conceptual project which explores the relationship between music and poetry. Lawton’s set will be introduced by a reading of his uncle Harry Owen’s poems.
Supported by Darlington Libraries and Creative Darlington as hosts, attendees are welcome to browse and loan books. And they can do it all with a beer in hand (if they wish), courtesy of micro-pub Crafty Merlins! It’s not one to miss.
