With the aim of producing and encouraging more female-led content within the film industry, Rianne Pictures have produced seven short films, one feature film, a web series and promo videos, not to mention hosting inspirational podcasts and events. This month they present Women X, a weekend film festival taking place online on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th October.

Women X seeks to celebrate women and non-binary filmmakers as well as inspire a new generation of creatives, while also focusing on mental well-being and the balance of work. Seminars will include sessions on how to pitch short films to festivals, how to crowdfund with confidence, discussions on maintaining a healthy work/life balance and the importance of women in film criticism.

Film screenings are grouped into thematic chunks, covering topics as diverse as finding kinship and connections with others, exploring human strengths, personal journeys and mental health. Highlights include local writer Lauren Vevers’ Love Spell, a tale about female friendship and queer desire; Itxaso Dias’ heartbreaking The Story Of All Of Us Women, which follows three Salvadorian women imprisoned for aggravated homicide after losing their babies; and Shades of Blue, produced by Rianne Pictures’ own Caris Rianne, which explores mental health and its effects within the black community in London.
