Reliably informed

A musical performance which has been composed using data collected from inside Durham Castle is set to take place at the castle on Friday 21st October.

Created by artist Jo Coupe, Vital Signs has used information collated from the castle like visitor numbers, temperature readings and humidity levels and Coupe used all of this to compose a musical score which will be performed using medieval percussion instruments. With Durham Castle nearly 1000 years old, it’s a chance to feel the history of this wondrous place come alive. Coupe worked with percussionist and composer Brendan Murphy and three other musicians, and instruments that may have been played at the castle hundreds of years ago will have the chance to have their sound bounce around these great walls once more.

Vital Signs is at Durham Castle on Friday 21st October.
