A unique film festival comes to Side Cinema
A new four-day festival of East German Cinema arrives in Newcastle to coincide with an exhibition of photography at Side Gallery. Tyneside Cinema and Side Cinema host The Inner Eye film festival from Wednesday 21st to Sunday 25th November.
It all runs alongside The Inner Eye photography exhibition at Side Gallery, and features some incredible works spanning across documentaries about photographers, short films rich in poetic beauty, feature films filled with drama and all shedding a light on life behind the Iron Curtain. There’s discussion with key filmmakers and academics too, with panel discussions and conversations a massively intriguing part of this festival.
All curated by Jan Soboka and facilitated by Amber Films, there’s screenings across both venues, starting with a showing of short films on Wednesday 21st and ending with the mesmerising Till Eulenspiegel on Sunday 25th November; more information on full listings can be found here.
