Once again, it seems that the Breeze Creatives team have succeeded in bringing yet another foreign artistic gem to the fold at Abject Gallery. This month, it is the turn of Juan delGado: a London-based visual artist whose work oft explores poignant themes such as displacement, trauma and disability.

His latest video installation, the Flickering Darkness, arrives at Abject Gallery on Wednesday 4th October. This three-channel installation focuses on the city of Bogotá, the gold-sheathed capital of Columbia, as delGado embarks on a journey to explore the city as a living organism that eats, sleeps and even has physical needs. For the most part, he focuses on the run-down, ‘no-go’ areas of the city: successfully demonstrating the terrifyingly brisk nature of social and economic change, as well as the resulting human cost, trauma, and suffering that it brings.

The work, which will continue to show throughout the month until Saturday 28th October, has been described by those who have witnessed it as both harrowing and poetic, revealing a side of Bogotá rarely examined by anyone other than sociologists. If you wish to explore the inner depths of a city (and peoples) you may never have paid a second thought to, now is your chance.
