Reliably informed

It’s no secret that The Candy Vortex are favourites of ours. Over the last few years, they’ve played host to a variety of gigs and parties across Newcastle and Gateshead that have brought a much-needed dash of sleaze, strangeness and silliness to the region. With their remarkable and distinctive artwork, they’ve even left a mark on other events, most notably the fetish reel imagery and grotesque tableau that they donated for the Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs Pigs album launch at The Cluny at the start of the year.

Having taken over Ernest for a successful club night back in February, they’re returning to the scene of the crime on Saturday 10th June for another evening of riotous, psychedelic party anthems and glitter-glam-atrocity décor quite unlike anything else the Toon has to offer. If that’s somehow not enough to tempt you down, then let us point out that a. it’s free entry, and b. it’s taking place after this month’s cover star Richard Dawson launches the sure-fire album-of-the-year Peasant at The Cluny, and after that you’ll undoubtedly be need of something to keep the buzz going. So why not enter The Candy Vortex, and see what lurid delights await within?
