The live event is part of the EXHIBITION season
Ever fancied yourself as a life-drawing model? Or maybe you’ve always wondered why people who do so are so inclined. Here’s your chance to remedy that; and if you’re shy about getting your kit off, you need not fear.
Fluid Medium, a live event on Saturday 7th February – part of Gateshead Workplace Gallery’s EXHIBITION season – puts this unusual, yet integral, method of art under the microscope. The session will be led by artist and musician Susie Green (she’s one third of punk three-piece Silver Fox and is also a member of Charm Offensive). Green has experience of being a life-model herself, so is an ideal candidate for turning the practice on its head: promising to do so in an amusing and thought-provoking way.
What is normally a one-sided business will be opened up to incorporate all parties on an equal footing. Inevitably, there is often a danger of things becoming a tad voyeuristic. Green seeks to tackle these notions by involving the artist to as great a degree as the model. She’ll be hosting an experimental life-drawing class, incorporating exercises in sound, prop design and of course, doodles. Promises to be an immersive, collaborative experience – no nudies required.
