The Kids Are Sold Gold announce a brand new indie all-dayer for Middlesbrough
After two years of false starts, and with a highly successful return for Twisterella in October behind them, Teesside-based promoters The Kids Are Solid Gold are raring to go for 2022.
Today they announce the first wave of performers for NXTGN, a brand new ‘taste-maker’ event which will take place on Saturday 26th March across three stages at Teesside University Students’ Union and Westgarth Social Club.
Originally slated for a 2020 debut, the inaugural NXTGN will see some of the UK’s most exciting emerging acts playing their first show in the region, making the all-dayer an essential date on the calendar for those who like to keep their finger on the pulse.
Announced to perform so far at the all-ages event is Roxanne de Bastion, who will be showing off tracks from her recent Bernard Butler-produced debut album; indie alt. rockers China Bears, who will arrive in Middlesbrough straight from their set at SXSW; melodic post-punks Loose Articles; excellently titled Glaswegian rockers The Wife Guys of Reddit; indie popsters Wojtek the Bear; Mancunian punks Blanketman and Scottish duo MEMES thrilled audiences at Twisterella, so their sets will be ones to watch; and there’s a handful of high profile slots for local artists too, including Joe Ramsey, Mt. Misery, ZELA and NOPRISM.
The Kids Are Solid Gold’s Andy Carr said: “It’s great to finally get the first wave of NXTGN acts announced. As we know from events such as Twisterella, there’s a huge appetite for discovering great new music here on Teesside and NXTGN is very much about allowing fans to make an early connection with some of the most exciting new acts from across the UK. Most importantly, NXTGN is going to enable North East music fans to make that connection first and get well ahead of the game. We’re incredibly excited for this line up and we’ve still got even more acts to announce.”
