This year’s Mouth of the Tyne Festival features possibly the most star studded line-up yet. Taking place from Thursday 7th until Sunday 10th July, venues along the North Tyneside coast will welcome a couple of bone fide mega stars, chart-topping songwriters and some amazing local talent.

Playhouse Whitley Bay plays host to British blues rock sensations The Temperance Movement on Thursday 7th and punk folk superstar Frank Turner, who brings his Sleeping Souls to the venue on Saturday 9th.

Festival goers will be praying for sunshine for the sold out performance from 2015 breakthrough artist James Bay (Saturday 9th) at Tynemouth Priory & Castle, which also hosts Roxy Music frontman (and all-round dude) Bryan Ferry, supported by local noir songstress Nadine Shah (Thursday 7th); contemporary pop artist Will Young, plus Tunde Baiyewu from The Lighthouse Family (Friday 8th); while the inimitable Lulu and R&B songwriter Lemar close the festivities on Sunday 10th).

While there are plenty of big names on the bill, no festival is complete without a surge of up and coming stars. Tynemouth Surf Café have teamed up with BBC Introducing’s Nick Roberts to present a variety of local talent, including shows from recent NARC. cover star Barry Hyde (Saturday 2nd) and Gomez front man Ben Ottewell (Friday 8th) which have already sold out. Squeeze in tight for the final showcase event on Sunday 10th when melodic songwriter Afnan Prince, the gorgeous hushed vocals of Ditte Elly, the storytelling soul of Jake Houlsby and glacial pop wonders Cape Cub take to the stage.
