A three day extravaganza of music takes over Newcastle

Descending upon Times Square (not quite as flashy as the one over the pond) in Newcastle this summer is a musical extravaganza so heftily impressive that they’ve had to squeeze it into three days. Scratch any weddings, jollies to Greece or general hoo-hah straight out of your calendar from Friday 29th until Sunday 31st July, when the outdoor space will be swarmed with a slew of exciting, innovative and legendary acts.
Friday’s delight consists of the legendary DJ icon that is Fatboy Slim, who will be hoiking out crowd pleasing anthems to kick off the weekend. Saturday’s spectacle boasts performances from Britpop icons Ocean Colour Scene, who will join the bill alongside the likes of fellow 90’s underdogs Shed Seven, purveyors of pretty pop ditties The Bluetones and one of Sunderland’s finest exports Hyde & Beast.
The big finale on Sunday will host North East spiky rock heroes Maximo Park, guaranteed to bring an intense energy to the day of rest, alongside recently reformed shoegaze Britpoppers LUSH, audio visual duo Public Service Broadcasting, indie popsters Teleman, and Fear of Men and last but certainly not least, Newcastle’s own Krautrock blizzard-wave duo Warm Digits.
