Local cassette record label Cruel Nature and the Gateshead-based White Noise Words label are opening up a Pandora’s box of unholy racket at Gateshead’s Soundroom on Saturday 16th April.

An evening which spans virtually every branch of extreme noise, it’s fitting that Glasgow’s Kapil Seshasayee brings his frankly unclassifiable brand of dronefunkstonerwhatevercore to Tyneside as the headline performance.

On the penultimate leg of his UK tour, the melting pot of styles and influences coming to the fore of his music seems all the more impressive when it dawns that he’s doing it all himself with no backing band. Listening to his recent output it’s difficult to pin down what exactly you’re listening to; there’s a country twang, a stoner/grunge clean vocal, distorted guitar and bleepy bloop electronica, and despite it sounding odd as fuck on paper, it actually works.

A packed bill is completed with support from Tyneside’s screamy improvisational lords of feedback Waheela and black-hearted ambient doom bastards Corpse Twitcher. Up and coming sludge primitives Lump Hammer promise to bludgeon with their straight-to-the-point thuggery and Platemaker will have your ears bending in on themselves with his hacked circuit and bloody noise attack.

Make a trip to the offy on your way as it’s BYOB.

Kapil Seshasayee, Waheela, Corpse Twister, Lump Hammer and Platemaker play The Soundroom, Gateshead on Saturday 16th April.
