Reliably informed

Fans of music that’s a little bit avant-garde and something that’s a bit different, are in for a real treat at Cluny in Newcastle on Sunday 7th August, as Irma Vep makes a rare appearance.

Existing as a vehicle for the multi-faceted and prolific Edwin Steven’s solo work, the sincerity to the music on show is clear, though it all comes out through scuzzy guitar sounds and echo-ridden vocals. It all sounds very tender, with a very introspective feel that’s delivered with a sharp self-awareness for music that is utterly beguiling. With support coming through punky political poetry from Jazz Riot and delicate, captivating acoustic tracks from Rhys Patterson, this show should be a rather special one.
