Who are you and where are you from?
I’m Caitlin, and I’m from Hampshire / the New Forest.
What is it you do?
I’m a singer – songwriter. I grew up playing flute as my main instrument and then I learnt piano and guitar, which is how I write my songs. Mainly guitar now!
How long have you been doing it?
I’ve been writing and singing for as long as I can remember!
What inspires you?
I grew up with a lot of classical music around me because of my family, and I loved to dance and sing from a young age, so I was inspired by a mixture of genres ranging from classical, jazz, country music, blues, soul, and rock ’n’ roll!
Tell us about your music.
My music is like ten genres merged into one. I can never just stay in one lane, so for any albums I have coming, just know that each song will be completely different in the best way! One day I’ll feel like writing a huge ballad, and the next it will be a grunge rock ’n’ roll tune. I never know how they’re gonna turn out, but luckily I have cool people around me who help me make them all work together somehow.
What have you got coming up in the future?
My debut studio album Why’s Everybody So Serious? is dropping in a few weeks (March 20th). I went through a lot during the writing of this album. A lot of confusion, anger, sadness then eventually acceptance. I discovered who I was without needing a man by my side to feel strong. I’m already working on the second one which I’m really excited about! I’m about to head off on my UK tour, with shows in London, Manchester, Newcastle, Bilston, Chester, and Southampton, and hopefully after that, another European one!
