Whatever you do, don’t call Daniel Sloss’ comedy dark. Oh wait, that’s the name of his new show? That complicates things a bit. How best to describe his show without using the D-word…? While I’m thinking of a suitable metaphor, a bit about Sloss himself. Despite being pretty young he’s managed to sell out eight consecutive Edinburgh Fringe seasons – no mean feat – and his last show Half Man Half Xbox was a resounding success. For all you video game enthusiasts out there, no, he hasn’t suffered from the red light of death and his career is stronger than ever, with spots on The John Bishop Show, Sunday Night at the Palladium and Conan O’Brien (no less than four times!). He even had his own BBC show, co-created online sitcom MUFF and has given a TEDx talk.

It’s probably all got to do with the fact that apart from having a sense of humour that’s just that little bit twisted, he’s also criminally intelligent and genuinely charming on stage, making him almost the complete comedy package. Joined on the night by Kai Humphries – of Punch Drunk Comedy fame – Sloss’ latest show is set to be more dingy than that cupboard you never clean out. Nailed it.

Daniel Sloss comes to The Stand, Newcastle on Sunday 11th October.
