“The gap between how we imagine our lives to be and how they really are,” is how the blurb describes Bill Bailey’s new show, Limboland. Normally I’d dismiss this type of description and mock the psychobabble of its subject matter, but as it’s Bill Bailey who is whimsical, ethereal and intelligent I’m more than prepared to give him the benefit of the doubt and let him take me on this journey. And you should too. He’s coming to Newcastle City Hall on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th November and it’s a must see for any serious fans of comedy.

Too many big names get by on laughter by numbers these days, so I always try to embrace someone who genuinely surprises and amuses. Bailey has branched out quite a bit recently, having offered up his peculiar brand of comedy and music on TV and cinema screens, with the odd documentary thrown in for good measure. Diversity is a good thing as long as people like Bailey return to what they do best: making people laugh in a live environment.  We urge you to head out and support live comedy, as in its purest form it’s likely to have you crying with laughter. For Bill Bailey’s tour, we recommend you take your hankies.

Bill Bailey is at Newcastle City Hall on Saturday 28th and Sunday 29th November.
