This weekend welcomes a chance to see some of the best our region and beyond is sending off to the Edinburgh Fringe this August. Alphabetti Theatre hosts three days of the best fringe theatre and stand-up comedy shows from Friday 27th until Sunday 29th July.

With shows from NUTS bringing a hard-boiled detective tale on Friday 27th, sketch comedy from Beach Hunks, and Karaoke with a baby grande piano also on Friday 27th the weekend is off to a good start. There’s improv from the Spontaneous Wrecks kids show on Saturday 28th, while Saturday also welcomes rising stars Neil Harris and Julie Grady Thomas, the brilliantly alternative Jack Evans and Fearless Players bring theatre show Armour. One to certainly make an effort to see on Saturday 28th is the wonderfully off-the-wall Harriet Dyer, with local favourite Lee Kyle, the edgy Richard Brown, Nouveau Riche bringing Queens of Sheba and Ross Brierley‘s inventive comedy rounding out day two.

The Sunday sees Martha Pailing bringing theatre show Background People, the always amazing Gavin Webster’s new show, theatre show 5 Encounters On A Site Called Craigslist and comedy from the cynical yet effortlessly engaging Katherine Tanney. The day continues with improv for grown ups from Spontaneous Wrecks once more, one of the regions’s best comics Hal Branson brings his new show and to close it all out is one of the finest comedians and unique minds to share the company of, the one and only Seymour Mace.

All shows are pay what you feel, so there’s plenty to fill your diary with this weekend.
