During lockdown we all became artists. We were painting beautiful watercolours based on what we could see out of our window, sketching pencil portraits of those we were kept apart from and creating graphics on our tablet of a world far away from the one we were looking at on the news. Now life seems to be returning to varying levels of normality, we might be left wondering where we can direct all this creativity that has been nurtured in the past few months. Luckily for us, award-winning art and design studio, Atomhawk, is taking submissions for their fourth annual art competition.

The theme is ‘the Adventure Begins’ and concept artists of all levels are invited to create an environment, character or key moment based around it. The grand prize winner will be awarded a Wacom Cintiq 16, Nintendo Switch, credit to Photobash.org and yearly subscriptions to ArtStation and ImagineFX. Also, Atomhawk are looking to hire several new artists at their Newcastle and Vancouver studios this year, making this a great opportunity to get seen by their recruitment team.

“The winner will be the best single image with a mixture of storytelling, creativity and technical skill. It’s important that the artist takes us on a creative journey,” said Charlie Bowater, Lead Artist at Atomhawk UK, “Do lots of exploration in the early stages and save your working as you go; it will help us understand your thought process as an artist and makes a big difference to the judges.”

Submissions open July 1st and close August 7th 2020. For all information on ‘The Adventure Begins’ art competition and how to enter, visit atomhawk.com/adventure.
