Reliably informed

Rising alt indie-pop artist and one of BBC Introducing in the North-East’s ones to watch for 2022, Faye Fantarrow releases her latest single Taboo. The track, with its soulful vocal, tender guitar and sombre (and at times haunting) ambience, is a cathartic and introspective piece to help the artist deal with her own emotions.

Here, Faye tries to capture the essence of the track using three songs…

I’ve chosen these songs purely because of how they make me feel. They’re driven by melody and lyricism which is something I hope resonates in Taboo. If I’m having a depression session these songs are my comfort blanket and I hope that’s what Taboo can be for someone else!

River by Leon Bridges – I love the escapism this track offers, I feel like I could be anywhere in the world when it’s playing and I love that!

Jealous by Labrinth – I feel like Labrinth manages to capture such a complex emotion in the most beautiful way, I love his lyricism and the way he can convey so many meanings in the most simple way.

Short and Sweet by Brittany Howard – I always always always love listening to Brittney and I adore the way her voice sounds on this track. She gives the song so much room to breathe and, for me, it works wonders.
