Beloved North East dance theatre company balletLORENT is taking its original and seductive event, After Dark, to the Theatre Royal in Newcastle at the end of March from Thursday 28th to Saturday 30th March. Here, we find out the five main reasons you need to see this show.

Sit on the stage with the beautiful Theatre Royal auditorium as your backdrop
In a first for the Theatre Royal, the whole show takes place on the stage – the audience as well, that’s right, you’ll be sitting around tables on the actual stage amongst the dancers, their turntables, swings and various props. Due to this the tickets are incredibly limited making this a very personal and sought-after event. You’re also actively encouraged to enjoy a drink…

Get up close and personal with the dancers
After Dark is an original and seductive event like no other. The 12 dancers move around you and amongst you (don’t worry, it’s as if you’re not even there, there’s no eye-contact or audience participation). It’s an amazing experience watching them push themselves, body and soul, to the limit, so close to the action that you can actually hear them breathe.

They’re a dance company like no other
The balletLORENT dancers truly are an amazingly talented and diverse bunch. They range in age from 19-51 and are from all over the country and the globe. They show you their vulnerability and strength and give you everything they’ve got, with Artistic Director and Choreographer Liv Lorent throwing all stereotypes and preconceived ideas about dance out of the window!

The soundtrack is AMAZING
A mix of contemporary rock, folk, dance and acoustic, it makes you feel as if you’re not just watching a performance, you’re actually inside it, like being in a music video. Featuring artists such as John Bramwell, Placebo and Lykke Li, you’re sure to recognise a song or two and find yourself tapping your toes.

Escape from Brexit!
After Dark takes place over 28-30 March – Brexit time…
Get away from the confusion and commotion of British politics, if only for one night, and transport yourself into the heady, mesmerising and atmospheric world of balletLORENT. Escapism at its finest.

After Dark is suitable for anyone aged 16+ and is at Theatre Royal, Newcastle from Thursday 28th to Saturday 30th March.
