Preview: Treevolution

Treevolution returns to Gateshead’s Railway Quarter on Saturday 15th August for its second instalment, bringing a full day of grassroots music, craft beer and street food to one of the town’s most characterful corners. Founded by Tyneside rock trio Ten Eighty Trees, the multi‑venue festival champions the North East’s alternative scene, curating a line‑up that spans indie, rock, metal, folk, singer‑songwriter and experimental sounds.

After a successful debut in 2025, this year’s event expands across three spaces. Station East and Microbus once again open their doors to live performances, while Bertie’s Shirts, a favourite spot for football shirt collectors, transforms into a pop‑up venue exclusively for the festival, adding a quirky new stop to the day’s trail. Across the programme, eighteen artists will take to the stages, with Suns of Seitan on site serving their much‑loved BBQ street food to keep the crowds fuelled.

With an affordable £10 ticket price and a focus on celebrating independent music, Treevolution continues to highlight the cultural energy building around Gateshead’s Railway Quarter. It’s a chance to discover new artists, support the region’s thriving DIY scene and enjoy a full day of live music in a unique setting.

Speaking about the festival, Nathan of Ten Eighty Trees said, “Gateshead regularly gets overlooked, especially being in such close proximity to Newcastle, but we feel it has so much more to offer than people give it credit for. We really wanted to shine a spotlight on this with Treevolution, bringing some great music to an area of Gateshead that is already experiencing something of a renaissance. The venues we’ve got on board for this year’s edition of the festival are all incredibly passionate about the area, and we’re all pulling in the same direction to bring a bit of colour and vibrancy back to our patch of the North East, all through the universal unifier that is music.”
