Preview: Lintukoto & The Flowers Stand Silently, Witnessing @ NewBridge Gallery & Cinema, Newcastle

This November (1st–29th November), The NewBridge Project presents two quietly powerful works exploring displacement, belonging and the fragile connections between people and place.

Henna Asikainen’s Lintukoto is a new sound installation developed with Usue Ruiz Arana and Ben Ponton. Set within a forest of birds’ nests and foraged materials, it draws on Finnish folklore and lived experience to ask what sanctuary might mean in a time of ecological collapse and forced migration.

Screening in the cinema, The Flowers Stand Silently, Witnessing is a film essay by Palestinian filmmaker Theo Panagopoulos. Reclaiming rare archival footage of Palestinian wildflowers, it reflects on image-making as both testimony and erasure.

Together, the works invite close listening and quiet reflection
