Graham Nash is back at The Glasshouse tonight having played here in a number of forms over the years; whether in solo, duo or larger band format. He’s here in a solo capacity this evening, supported by a threepiece band whose musical and harmony techniques are at a frighteningly high standard – at points they really do sound like Crosby Stills and Nash at their finest.

Looking back over his solo and collective work, Nash, now 83, is in fine voice as he talks and sings us through highlights from his back catalogue. Never losing his North Western charm, the former Hollie is a natural storyteller, introducing each story with an interesting anecdote or aside – sometimes humorous, sometimes wistful – but with a consistent manner that is endearing and supports his reputation as one of pop music’s good guys. Standouts, Our House, Simple Man, Bus Stop and Love The One You’re With are all dedicated to past lovers, band mates and friends though it’s the final three tracks which reach unbelievable highs – Teach Your Children, Woodstock and Suite: Judy Blue Eyes – all delivered with a superb musical force. How he manages to keep going, at this level, is a testimony to him and his band. God willing, he’ll be back once more. Excellent.
