Damian Robinson enjoys an evening of warm pop songs from the D’Addario brothers

Constantly developing their sound, the brothers D’Addario have steadily moved The Lemon Twigs across a number of retro genres since they began, ending with their current Beach-Boys-meets-Beatles-meets-Byrds-meets-Love harmony-based, 60s-inspired, pop focus.
Picking up tonight in their quest for harmonies, Brian and Michael D’Addario, set inside a four-piece line-up, plough through various new and older songs which appear to focus on the more melodic, poppier elements of their back catalogue.
Standouts Look For Your Mind, I Just Can’t Get Over Losing You, and 2 Or 3 showcase the band’s ability to stitch together jingle-jangle guitar lines with tight two- and three-part harmonies to create short, explosive pop tunes.
Doing a fine job of replicating their hard-to-recreate vocals, the brothers lean heavily into their McCartney head shakes and on-stage joyous performance as they walk the tightrope of playing live yet missing studio overdubs and layerings. Given the strength of their music you hope the brothers carry on creating such warm pop music for at least another decade.
