Reliably informed

Angels Cut hosts a rare visit from Birmingham, Alabama songwriter and poet Lee Bains on Thursday 10th September, as he brings his first ever solo UK and European tour to Darlington. Known for the “Southern gospel punk” of his four acclaimed albums, Bains arrives having recently released his live record Free South 2025 and ahead of his debut poetry collection WORK LUNCH (out October 2026), drawing on years of politically charged writing, Deep South histories and collaborations with artists including Lonnie Holley, Moor Mother and Algiers.

Support comes from two North East artists. stebee — the solo project of Steven Bardgett — delivers a raw, genre‑scrambled set that folds noise rock, garage punk, alt‑hip hop and folk into something cathartic, chaotic and sharply vulnerable. Naomi Kelly, a Leeds‑born, North East‑based singer‑songwriter, brings melodic, lyrically pointed indie‑folk‑pop that has earned comparisons to Grace Petrie and Lucy Spraggan.

Tickets for the event are £10 and available here.
