Reliably informed

Jim Jefferies has built a career on being the carpenter of chaos – a craftsman of profanity and provocation who hammers away at social hypocrisies until the whole structure wobbles. With his new tour, Son of a Carpenter, the Aussie comic leans headfirst into that metaphor, tracing the fault-lines between his rough-edged past and his middle-aged domestic present.

Come November 6th , expect Jefferies in full command of his contradictions: the swaggering atheist who’s now a father; the former barfly trying to build something resembling stability. Be warned though, his comedy remains structurally unsound by design – tangents may splinter into political tirades, laddish anecdotes just might beget moments of unexpected moral clarity.

Over the past decade, Jefferies has softened just enough to make his cynicism sting sharper. On stage, he’s still the malcontent who says what he’s not supposed to, but with Son of a Carpenter there’s a trace of self-awareness beneath the bite. He’s laughing at the world, sure, but also at his own blueprint.
