On Friday 17th September, the Teesside art gallery puts on a big bash to see out the Summer
To see out the Summer, as well as celebrate their co-directors’ (Stephen Irving) birthday, Teesside art pioneers Pineapple Black are putting on BIG, which as the name suggests is an event jam-packed with inspirational entertainment and artwork.
During the evening, taking place on Friday 17th September, there will be five new exhibitions, work from 30 artists, live music and an aftershow at Pineapple Black’s brand new night-spot.
From 6-9pm you can check out Border Crossing, a collection of work from various artists that has been curated by Kieran Brimm and asks the question, what exactly is a painting? Over at the Stockroom Gallery you can check out Hacienda Landscapes, which features images from Eugene Schlumberger’s contribution to the forthcoming book by Ben Kelly, Peter Saville and Eugene Schlumberger.
Jo Stanness’s Southbank To Southbank exhibition at the Window Gallery celebrates the aesthetics and optimism of modern and brutal architecture from Southbank in Middlesbrough to London’s Southbank. In the Changed Rooms, Sopruh’s Over Here juxtaposes internal thoughts and emotions alongside external experiences and noise, and in the foyer, you can enjoy Parasol Art by Jode Athey and David Griffiths.
Then from 9pm-12am the party continues Pineapple Black’s new upstairs bar, The Juice Box, where there will be live music and DJs to help dance the night away.
This event is free to attend and includes a fully licensed bar.
