Influential Wirral five-piece The Coral, who released their critically acclaimed new album Move Through The Dawn in August, will visit Middlesbrough Empire on Friday 8th March. The follow-up to 2016’s Distance Inbetween, Move Through The Dawn is filled with melody and hope as the band pursue a more mature direction. A few line-up changes over the years have managed not to dented the band’s prolific work rate and creativity, and since their debut EP release in 2001 the psychedelic Scousers have sold over a million UK albums, with five reaching the Top 10 including 2003’s chart-topping Magic And Medicine. So expect all the hits including their eight Top 40 singles such as Dreaming Of You, In The Morning, Pass It On, and Don’t Think You’re The First. Latest single, Reaching Out For A Friend, is described by singer James Skelly as “pure melody”, and is a pretty perfect slice of what the band do best.

Supports for the tour will be Cut Glass Kings and Marvin Powell, both signed to the band’s Skeleton Key record label. Birmingham rock and rollers Cut Glass Kings are cut from the same cloth as Black Sabbath and Queens of the Stone Age and their apocalyptic rumble should get everyone in the mood, while Marvin Powell’s mix of fine folk with Liverpool’s psychedelic heritage will warm things up early doors.
