Reliably informed

Yes, it is actually a comedy show. No, really. Jokes and everything.

The reason for this disclaimer is the reputation that Silly Billies have built around Newcastle for psychedelic disruption, Discordian intervention and total, unrepentant idiocy can occasionally hide the fact that are still (on some level at least) a comedy troupe. A really rather brilliant and inventive one at that too.

Having made their bow at the Alphabetti Theatre’s old venue with An Audience with Michael Brunström back in March, they now return to the Alphabetti’s new Blandford Square venue with their new show Dark Side of the Toon on Saturday 30th September.

Although details on exactly which old favourites might be returning and what new characters we can expect are currently on lockdown (I’m crossing my fingers for Mike Madchester and the Rambling Ramblers personally), you can be guaranteed some gloriously absurd and irate sketches from the Silly Billies team.

As well as that, there’s also a clutch of special guests performing on the night as well, including the miraculous anti-comedy of circuit staple Fernando and other to be confirmed turns. We’ll see you on the Dark Side of the Toon.

Silly Billies is at Alphabetti Theatre, Newcastle on Saturday 30th September.
