International Concert Cellist, Katie Tertell and trained concert pianist, Annie Ball kick off their outdoor music tour of rural North-East England on Saturday 19th September.
International concert cellist, Katie Tertell and trained concert pianist, Annie Ball follow up a hugely successful pilot of sold-out outdoor performances in the village of Clara Vale in July this year, with a rural tour of the northeast in Autumn 2020 and Spring/Summer 2021. Under the name Semibreve they have been putting on shows for several years with the main aim of making live music (in particular classical music) accessible to all by pairing with non music activities and in unusual venues. This tour sees them doing more of the same as they set up shop and perform in various outdoor spaces with Annie will be swapping the piano for the more mobile accordion. The duo will be playing all their own arrangements, with an emphasis on local folk music, jazz, classical and bluegrass, as well as a world premiere from a renowned Irish composer.
All shows are socially distanced and there are three types to choose from (a family special, an afternoon delight and a candlelit special) with weather not being an issue due to owning two marquees and a performers gazebo, although blankets and hot water bottles are recommended. Katie and Annie are also looking to partner with small, local, independent businesses and organisations that would benefit from the audience the tour would bring, by the media coverage and those who may be looking to raise their artistic profile.
The tour kicks off on Saturday 19th September and will see the duo playing in 15 Venues in the North East (20 gigs in total) from Cheeseburn to The Garden Station, Hexham and some rural village greens in Northumberland. To find out more and to book tickets, visit their website.
