An exhibition of the work of the late, great talent takes place at the Gateshead gallery
Artist and curator and founder of Workplace and Workplace Foundation Paul Moss tragically passed away in February of this year due to complications arising from Wiskott – Aldrich syndrome.
An impromptu curating of Paul’s work by Miles Thurlow and Matt Stokes from his solo exhibition at BALTIC in 2004 will make up the key components of this memorial exhibition, which is at Workplace until Saturday 27th April, with the focus on a group of his Danger Paintings. Paul was and remains a central figure to our community in the North of England, so the gallery have sought to continue to present his work, and following conversation with Paul’s widow Cecilia Stenbom and with close friends of Paul, they have decided to reschedule their programme and continue to present Paul’s work throughout their current exhibition slot.
As part of the exhibition they have maintained a communal seating area, reading material and condolence book. Visitors are encouraged to come and spend time in the gallery, and write something in the book of condolence to cement the lasting legacy of the innovative, irrepressible Paul Moss.
The Paul Moss Memorial Exhibition takes place at Workplace until Saturday 27th April.
