Music blogging can often be a thankless task, given the endless profusion of websites and blogs shouting into the void about their favourite stuff; it’s really heartening when someone loves something enough to keep the pace up for any length of time. Blow your trumpets and don your party hats, then, in celebration of Music Mayhem, a blog run by Teessider Lauren Kilcullen which serves as both a method of gaining experience for herself as well as writing about interesting bands she’s come across. That she’s just 17, has run the site on her own for two years and kept up an impressive prolificacy, is just icing on the (birthday) cake.

Also to be commended is the frankly stonking line-up she’s put together for the birthday bash at Stockton’s Georgian Theatre on Friday 6th September, which features post-punk titans Casual Threats, odd-pop lovelies Head of Light Entertainment, the brilliantly infectious dark pop sounds of Ghost//Signals, psych-infused doom pop from Teesside’s DRIPP and relative newcomers Uncle Dudeman, who bring a dose of spacey rock to proceedings. With tickets a mere fiver, there’s no excuse not to celebrate.
