Moving Parts Arts is a grassroots arts development organisation that was established in 2017 and is based in Newcastle. Its aim is to build a hub for puppetry and visual theatre in the North East.

After the success of their Puppet School earlier this year, Moving Part Arts have announced some new courses for kids, teens and adults, taking place this Autumn, made possible thanks to Art Council England and The Community Foundation Wide Open Fund.

Artistic Director, Kerrin Tatman said they knew after the success of the pilot there was a real appetite for similar activities for kids and teens across the region.

“The feedback we got from participants and their parents was just incredible. The Puppet School gave kids and teens a fun, creative outlet during a very difficult time and allowed them to make friendships over the duration of the course.”

There are four different courses for different ages and experience levels, these include: kids beginners, kids intermediate, teens and adults. The courses start in September and will take place in person and online. It will offer participants the opportunity to design, create and build their own puppets as well as the puppeteering skills to bring their characters to life for their very own stage.

Everyone who signs up to the full 10-week course will also receive a full puppet making kit and pop-up home theatre, containing everything they will need to get their puppet projects started.

Places on each course are extremely limited so early booking is advised to avoid disappointment. Book your place here.
