On Monday 9th July, Newcastle’s Stand Comedy Club is previewing the Edinburgh shows of two of the UK’s most passionate, intelligent and vital stand-up comedians. Rob Auton’s The Talk Show is the most compelling showcase of his eccentric, humane comedy; having previously touched on hair, sleep and the colour yellow, he’s now turning his attention to talking. A favourite of Daniel Kitson, his exploration of the minutiae of life is poetic, philosophical and deeply touching.
Auton will be joined by Kiri Pritchard-McLean, who will be showcasing Victim, Complex. Kiri is a rising star in the world of comedy who has been commended for her capacity to make articulate, funny, complex material out of the most difficult of issues. Also a member of the stupendously funny Gein’s Family Giftshop, Kiri’s show Victim, Complex is about “friends, women and sanity”, and promises to be cathartic and humourous in equal measure.
At a fiver a ticket it’s an absolute steal to see two of the UK’s finest comics honing their Edinburgh shows in an internationally respected comedy club. What are you waiting for?
