The creative writing organisation Writers’ Block North East has an exciting new project lined up, with Saltburn novelist Carmen Marcus joining the Middlesbrough-based company in looking for raw talent ready to take steps to writing a novel.

With no previous experience necessary, this is a huge opportunity, with the success story of Marcus a great one to base the new project around. With a debut novel that received much acclaim, they’re looking for someone with a similar bright idea, and it will be honed by the Teesside writing organisation much like Marcus’ skills were.

With twelve places up for grabs on the twelve month course, it’s workshops, one-to-one mentoring and Q&As with some incredible authors that will lead to a lot of learning and creativity, with workshops taking place at Middlesbrough Town Hall and The Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art, both key supporters of WBNE. The development programme is also supported by Arts Council England, Middlesbrough Council and Tees Valley Arts.

Writers’ Block North East is encouraging anybody who wants to write a novel to apply to the programme. The deadline for applications is 5pm on Monday 15th October.
