The free, environmentally-aware family festival returns to Glenholme Park, Crook on Saturday 3rd August
Glenholme Park in Crook presents a day of vibrant energy and community spirit on Saturday 3rd August, as they welcome back the Building Our Planet festival, a free, award-winning, one-day event produced by Jack Drum Arts Youth Board offering live music, art, and street theatre, all with a strong focus on environmental conservation and awareness.
Crafted by ten passionate young people aged 10 to 17, the festival offers something for everyone with the One World main stage featuring headliner Megan Black, who was named as one of Youth Music’s “Ones to Watch” for 2024 and dynamic Punk Jazz band, Ponyland. Completing the lineup are Jazzy Dystopia, Hannah Roeves, Ceitidh Mac, Lily Mac, and Izzy Price.
There are also activities for all ages, including t-shirt designing workshops, treasure hunts, natural dyeing, face painting, bubbleology, and circus skills. At 6pm there will be a Call-to-Action Procession where everyone is welcome to join. The theme is endangered species and you can create your own costume at the festival’s on-site workshops and join samba drummers, dancers and the mesmerising Sweeping Swallow puppets from Bird in the Hand Theatre when parading in the park.
There will be food and drink vendors and attendees are encouraged to embrace the ethos of avoiding, reducing, reusing, and recycling.
