Last year as part of Durham BRASS Festival, the Brassed On project paired two of the region’s finest up and coming songwriters with thrilling brass bands to create a one-off collaborative performance at Durham’s Town Hall.

Teesside’s soulful R&B artist Sisi worked alongside New Orleans legends The Original Pinettes, and fast-rising North East indie rocker Tom A Smith teamed up with Leeds rabble-rousers Loud Noises. Both collaborations took all the performers out of their comfort zones, and enabled Sisi and Tom to see their music in a new light – with added brass!

NARC. TV filmmaker Art Mouse was on hand to document the whole process, and in our exclusive mini-doc chats with festival organisers Sue Collier and Jennie Brewis, alongside the artists themselves, to find out more about this special project.

Brassed On will return for another outing at this year’s festival, with performers Hector Gannet and Nadedja collaborating with NuSound Brass and Loud Noises on Sunday 7th July. Tickets are available here.
