On Saturday 11th December the Method crew celebrate a landmark moment as a collective and launch a new website which collates, for the first time, all the strands from their community radio, education, live arts and music programmes.

The launch will be held at The Tanners Arms in Byker, a venue close to the collective’s heart, and will embody the passions of the crew bringing together people, music, art, dance and of course…burgers!

Method Lounge founder Sandy Duff tells us what inspired the project…

The aim of the project has always been to nurture a diverse collective that truly represents the North East underground, encompassing a range of electronic music and street art styles relevant to our everyday lives and free from social snobbery or cultural elitism.

Thanks to support from Arts Council England, I’ve been fortunate enough to take some risks and try some new things this year which has enabled me to work closely with some inspiring creatives, who make music and art on the fringes of the regional scene.

It’s been a reciprocal process with lots of learning and growth for me through the collaborative sessions, and a lot of connections to other opportunities both locally and beyond for the collaborators.

As the Method radio station has grown, so has the team and it’s now supported and run by an amazing group of people who donate their time purely because of that shared community vision and love of music. It’s their passion that pushes the station forward.

For so long this has been managed remotely, but for the last six months now we’ve had studio space where people have been able to start coming together and it’s been incredible. The Method Lounge has become a melting pot of ideas, thoughts, fun and more than a little mayhem.

The idea of getting together to celebrate this moment excited everyone across the Method strands and so it seemed right that we return to the former crew HQ and bring those elements together.

The event will feature a healthy selection of DJs covering a range of sounds and styles, live art from the crew and friends, a fire show and a mouth-watering Method Menu from the renowned Scranners Arms kitchens.

Method at the Tanners Arms, Newcastle runs from 5pm till late on Saturday 11th December
