Last Of The Fallen Angels (aka Conrad McQueen) joins forces with fellow AXLS band mate and singer, Victoria Owsnett for their brand new single, Edge Of The World.

This latest offering about love and loss was produced by long time collaborator Simon Ellis (Spice Girls, S Club 7). Its dark, searching beat, ethereal ‘oo’s and pulsating synths provide an enjoyable backdrop for Victoria O’s melodic (and at times soaring) vocal, which offers a nice balance to Conrad’s huskier tones.

Last Of The Fallen Angels are set to play an instore at HMV Newcastle on Saturday 7th May followed by a performance at Butterfly Effect Festival on Saturday 21st May.

Here Conrad, tells us more about what inspired the track…

One of my best friends was diagnosed with cancer and I wrote the song on the day he told me. Musically I tried to add elements of his favourite songs….
1. “Blackwater” by Rain Tree Crow (basically Japan reformed under another name in the 90s)
2. “Conversation 16” by The National.
3. “One Tree Hill” by U2. Edge’s looped guitar is just beautiful.

The lyrics were ad-libbed in a stream of consciousness when I laid down the guide vocal. I really don’t know where they came from or what they mean. I did intend to rewrite them, but there’s a feeling about them, which summed up the song, so I kept them in the final mix. Victoria added the call and response parts which are excellent. The mid section she wrote is beautiful.

1. I Am Easy to Find” by The National the wonderful weaving of vocals from singer Matt and Kate Stables (This is the Kit ) has been a huge influence on my Last of the Fallen Angels output
2. Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space by Spiritualized

So if you throw all of this into a cement mixer, you get Edge of the World!
