Damian Robinson enjoys a night of superb songwriting

Starting tonight’s show, Callum Pitt, with lovely vocal support from Eve Simpson, opens up with a fine blend of gentle guitar and Americana. Layering his solo electronic guitar work with falsetto vocals, Pitt delivers an excellent set including recent single Ghosts Along The Coast Line. New song Learning To Walk and the lovely White Lilies On The Water stand out in a set filled with Josh Rouse-inspired songwriting and lovely harmonies. Pitt’s recent releases show that he’s still one to watch.
A quick turnaround is all that’s needed before Tyler Ramsey appears, all super low-key, humble and modest. Demonstrating proficient guitar playing with his style of acoustic-flamenco-classic fretwork, Ramsey is a master of his craft – there’s no tricks or effects or peddles here as he wraps his way across standouts No More Shadow, No More Sorrow, Celestun and Flying Things. A quick mine into his Band of Horses era also finds gold, with both Everything’s Gonna Be Undone and Evening Kitchen showcasing the fine blend of Ramsey’s vocal and guitar capabilities.
