After a striking and energetic support from Bulls and the euphoric Alfie Templeman, whose set was filled with a fun loving and high octane level of passion, the six piece punk band ran to the stage and it was immediately evident that this was going to be a sweaty night.

Sports Team effortlessly whipped the crowd into a frenzy within seconds and the chaos didn’t waver or lessen until the gig drew to a close. Seasoned hits such as the anthemic Kutcher or Fishing were met with the raw craze and giddy mania from the crowd as the new, unreleased tracks and the band ensured each moment of each song was fuelled with the same unbridled punk energy as the last.

Front man Alex Rice gave a powerhouse performance from the get go, with an unfiltered display of whimsy, charm and angst that harked back to the days of Johnny Rotten. Leaping across the stage with a Jagger-esque finesse, he brought out every trick in the punk revival’s book with a refreshed sense of urgency, from clambering on top of amps, to hurling his body into the deranged crowd.

The gig acted as a potent reminder that Sports Team are kings of the modern punk market and there is still a ravenous audience ready to eat it up.
