Stuck for something to do in the next seven days? We aim to have you covered with an event a day for the next week, all across the region. This time around we have comedy previews, top music to throw shapes too, classic film and more…

Monday 24th July
COMEDY Gavin Webster and Lee Kyle Double Bill @ The Stand, Newcastle
It’s two Edinburgh Fringe previews from two of the North East’s finest comics. Both brilliantly silly, inventive and immensely funny, these are two shows well worth catching before they take them up to the mammoth arts festival.

Tuesday 25th July
MUSIC Motoon: An Evening Of Soul and Motown @ Wylam Brewery, Newcastle
A night dedicated to Soul and Motown at Wylam Brewery – what more could you want? With a few Funk and Disco tunes thrown into the mix, it’s set to be a toe-tapping evening of funky fun. 

Wednesday 26th July
MUSIC Neurotic Fiction, Breakfast Muff, Mouses @ Empty Shop, Durham
Garage rock, punk and fuzzy pop vibes from three awesome bands, at one of the North East’s most underrated venues make for an absolutely perfect Wednesday of music.

Thursday 27th July
ART & LIT Ink & Drink @ Laing Art Gallery, Newcastle

Nocturnal celebration of the mind-bending marvels of Alice in Wonderland – Newcastle-based collaborative duo ScartVideo premiere a live performance of their video-sculpture Enchanting Alice, which combines existing Alice films to create unexpected fusions and sensory distortions. Grab a drink from the cash bar, explore the exhibition, get hands-on with some inky art-making, then sit back and enjoy the trip.

Friday 28th July
MUSIC Hackney Coillery Band @ Sage Gateshead
Hackney Colliery Band have had a simply phenomenal few years. From playing a 45 minute set at the Closing Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics and sets at the MOBO, Brit and Mercury Awards to live sessions on BBC Two, BBC Radio 2, Jazz FM and worldwide airplay from many more, from collaborations with the likes of Amy Winehouse and Madness to headline shows at London’s Koko, and a tour schedule even taking in the Faroe Islands, these east London musicians haven’t stopped.

Saturday 29th July
COMEDY Jesterval @ Outside BALTIC, Gateshead
If you’re lucky enough to have Saturday free, then feast yourself on some top comedy from the ongoing comedy festival. Saturday welcome impressionist Cal Halbert, the charming Hal Branson, character comedian Tom Binns and a whole lot more.

Sunday 30th July
FILM Saving Private Ryan @ Tyneside Cinema, Newcastle
Another film as part of Spielberg season at Tyneside Cinema and another classic. One which really needs to be seen on the big screen too, with Tom Hanks on top form is this World War II epic.
