Reliably informed

Lou Sanders has cannoned into the comedy conversation through her brilliant appearances across shows like Taskmaster and QI, while cementing her reputation through her beloved podcast, Cuddle Club.

Arriving at The Stand, technical difficulties attempted to derail the show from the off, but Sanders takes the problems in her stride, weaving it elegantly into her tapestry of muddled, haphazard anecdotes and misadventures.

With the show centreing around the chaos of the past few years, the comic draws from her personal experiences, detailing the struggles of isolation, the fight for self identity, the need to feel proactive and the need to find love.

An exploration in self acceptance, One Word: Wow is the joyful chronicle of a woman fumbling through life, piecing together the fragmented remains of identity that were shattered by the pandemic. The effortless and brash charisma the comic exudes was essential in anchoring the piece, as Sanders guides us through a myriad of disjointed tales that ricochet off into unexpected directions. With stories flowing from her, there was a colloquial and unrehearsed feel to the night that epitomises the appeal and talent of the comedian.

A shambolic love story interspersed with roller skating, the deliberately scatterbrained set’s lack of fine tuning focused the attention directly to the hysterical presence and affable charm of the rising star.
