Isy Suttie is best known for her portrayal of Dobby in Peep Show, but unfortunately largely not for stand-up. I had the pleasure of seeing Suttie for the first time in 2008, when it was very clear she had a wonderful knack for beautifully detailed, off kilter storytelling.

Tonight’s hour details Suttie’s formative years and her predilection for Ouija boards, and how that has permeated into her adult life. It’s eccentric without ever feeling forced, the way she talks about her family life is touching and sincere, and most importantly, the laughs come at a rate of knots.

It’s a light-hearted, sweet show that touches on the nuance of ageing, loss of innocence and the everyday magic that surrounds.

At the start, Suttie jokes that the show will last between 58 and 59 minutes. I wasn’t keeping tabs on exactly how specific she was, but every minute was a joy: a delight from start to finish.
